Introduction
Whether it's for an ingredient for a dessert or just as a snack, we all need chocolate here and there. Instead of buying chocolate bars and chips, I'll typically create them myself, as I can dial in the exact sweetness I'm looking for. Not only that, but it requires only 3 minimal ingredients, and is substantially cheaper.
For example, a bar of unsweetened (100%) chocolate could cost $4.12 for just a 4 oz (113 g) bar. Instead, making it yourself at home costs only $0.93, less than a quarter of the price.
Below will be 3 tables. The first will be for the ingredients; how much cocoa powder, coconut oil, and sugar you will need to create 100 g of chocolate. The second table is the nutrition facts for each bar of chocolate per 100 g (3.5 oz). Each of these ratios will yield a 100 g bar of chocolate, and you can scale up or down based on how much of you need. And of course, you can make any of these sugar free by replacing the granulated sugar with granulated monk fruit. The final table will display the costs of buying versus making your own chocolate.

How To Make Chocolate
- In a small microwave save bowl, microwave your coconut oil for about a minute, until fully melted
- Stir in cocoa powder and sugar with a silicone spatula until fully combined
- Transfer your melted chocolate to a chocolate mold. A parchment lined bread pan will also work if you don't have a chocolate mold
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to harden. Store in the fridge in an airtight bag
