Here's a super simple caramel sauce recipe that uses only 4 ingredients, without any cream, milk, or butter. This dairy free caramel sauce involves just bringing sugar to a boil, and flavoring it with vanilla and salt. You can even make it sugar free using monk fruit or allulose

Ingredients

- 1 cup Brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Water
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp Salt
Instructions
Cook Mode Off: Prevents screen dimming
- Add sugar and water to a small stainless steel sauce pot. Either brown or white sugar will work, or try any low calorie sweetener. Mix until fully dissolved
- Add the pot to the stove over medium high heat, and bring to a bubble with occasional stirring
- When bubbling, stop stirring, and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the syrup reaches 240F
- Remove the pot from the heat, and stir in vanilla and salt. Transfer to a mason jar. Let cool uncovered at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, or until fully cooled
- If the syrup hardens, just microwave the jar in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until you can easily drizzle it out
